The Stirling Parachute Centre organises courses for beginners who wish to make their first parachute jump or skydive. We offer a choice of two solo first jump training courses :- Static Line Round or Static Line Square (RAPS). Alternatively you can experience your first jump by Tandem Skydive.

Static Line Round and Static Line Square (RAPS) training courses

It's probably easier than you think.
The British Parachute Association syllabus which is taught at the Parachute Centre takes approx. 8 hours. So the training may be completed in one day. During the longer days of summer it is sometimes possible to make your jump during the evening of the first day.

The Jump

The flight to the jump height of 2200 ft (round parachute) or 3200ft( square parachute), will take a few minutes and will reveal the beautiful countryside beneath. For some this will be a first flight also. The instructor on board the aircraft will give the go command. As soon as you jump your parachute will open automatically. This is done by using a bag deployed static line system which has proven to be the most reliable in the world.

The transition from the nervous anticipation in the aircraft to the tranquil quiet of the parachute descent is breathtaking. This and the sight of the colourful parachute that has blossomed above you with a reassuring tug at the shoulders will be the experience of a lifetime.

Advanced Training

You may then continue jumping as a club member and subsequent jumps are priced at £30 each for Round Parachutes and £35 for Squares (RAPS), which includes all equipment and further instruction. You may progress onto Freefall (Skydiving) after a minimum of 5 jumps . There is no charge for extra tuition after your first jump. Who knows you may one day be jumping with the club Display Team.

Round or Square Parachute?

Round Parachute : this is the most economical way to do a parachute jump. Offering a gentle descent and is the first step in the progression system and all you have to do is a 'landing roll'.

Square (RAPS) Parachute : a high performance and a highly manouverable parachute wing which can fly in slightly higher winds than a round parachute. It can also provide a tip-toe landing with a nil downward descent rate.

Tandem Sky Diving

Tandem parachuting offers a quick and easy introduction to the incredible experience of free fall as well as the enjoyment of a ram air parachute ride. Instruction is minimal, only taking around 30 minutes. A dual harness system is used, strapping you securely to an experienced tandem instructor who will initiate the opening of the parachute after freefall, and the landing. In addition we can arrange for the Tandem jump to be videoed to give you an individual and permanent record of this amazing experience.

All our courses are suitable for Charity Jumps or Gifts Vouchers. They are also the perfect first step in a long term progression system
